What About Heat Output?

There are two main types of gas log sets: vented and vent-free. Vented gas log sets are great if you’re looking for beautiful, flickering flames, but they aren’t that great at heating your space. Because these units must be vented, the damper must be open when the logs are in use, so most of the heat will go right up and out of the chimney. Vent-free log sets, however, can be great for heating your living space.
