Chimney Inspections In Indianapolis & Surrounding Areas
Chimney Solutions of Indianapolis provides all three levels of chimney inspections that will help you keep your chimney safe and performing at its best.
NFPA & CSIA Chimney Inspection Standards
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) both recommend that chimneys and vents connected to heating appliances be inspected once a year.
Throughout the greater Indianapolis region, Chimney Solutions offers the three inspections outlined by the CSIA:
Level 1: This is the basic inspection, covering all readily accessible areas of your chimney structure and components. A Level 1 chimney inspection should be performed annually.
Level 2: Level 2 inspections are called for when:
- You’re altering or modifying your chimney system, such as by adding a gas insert to your fireplace or having the chimney relined
- A chimney fire or other event may have caused damage
- The home is going on the market for sale
During a Level 2 inspection, our Indianapolis chimney technicians use video imaging technology that lets us inspect parts of the chimney that normally can’t be seen.
Level 3: A Level 3 inspection is performed when significant damage is known to exist. It often involves removing parts of the chimney structure and adjacent materials of the home in order to get to the problem.
CSIA-Certified Chimney Inspections in Indianapolis
Our chimney inspectors are certified by the Chimney Safety Institute of America and receive ongoing field and academic training. This uniquely qualifies them to spot early signs (or later signs) of trouble and get the problems resolved.
A chimney inspection can focus on many parts and areas of your Indianapolis chimney system, including:
- Chimney cap, concrete crown and flashing around the base of the external chimney
- Chimney liner
- The bricks and mortar that make up the chimney masonry
- Debris and creosote buildups that could lead to fire and carbon monoxide poisoning
- Chimney leaks and water damage
- Drafting issues and backdrafts
- Fireplace damper and smoke chamber
- Firebox and refractory panels
Repairing Chimney Damage
Following inspection, the Chimney Solutions Indianapolis crew can handle all types of repair projects. We provide:
- Chimney cap repair and replacement
- Chimney crown repair and rebuilding
- Chimney flashing installation
- Brick replacement
- Tuckpointing to replace crumbing mortar
- Chimney waterproofing
- Chimney liner repair and relining
- Smoke chamber parging
- Resolution of chimney leaks and drafting problems
- Complete chimney sweeping to remove creosote and debris
and any other chimney services that may be required.
We See What You Can’t
We encourage our Indianapolis customers to keep an eye on their chimneys. You can usually spot obvious signs of damage, such as cracked bricks or a rusted damper that barely moves. But the average homeowner doesn’t have the training and tools to be able to uncover problems that aren’t so obvious.
Only a CSIA-certified chimney inspection performed by a licensed professional meets the standards set forth by the National Fire Protection Association and the Chimney Safety Institute of America. That’s exactly what Chimney Solutions provides throughout the greater Indianapolis region.
